- Historically, the Jama Masjid in Bengaluru (or Bangalore) was built in the year 1843 by Mysore ruler, Haider Ali. This mosque is said to be the largest mosque in Bengaluru. Inside, it has two stories with the main prayer hall located on the ground floor. This prayer hall has three aisles, with some sections reserved for women. Women are required to use a separate entrance for their prayers. This mosque attracts both Muslims and non-Muslims because of its beauty and its huge prayer hall. It is one of the most famous landmarks in Bengaluru and it stands as a testament to the harmonious relationship between Hindus and Muslims in the region. The walls of the mosque are hung with intricate floral designs, and the interior is decorated with ornate Islamic carvings and motifs.
