Architecture:
The Palayam Juma Masjid is a historic mosque located in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. It was built in the 17th century and is one of the most important mosques in the city. The mosque follows the traditional Kerala architectural style, with its walls and roof constructed with blocks of laterite. The main prayer hall of the mosque is supported by pillars ornately carved with floral and geometric designs. The upper part of the mosque is covered in terracotta tiles, and it features a traditional Kerala-style turret called a chattam. The central courtyard of the mosque is surrounded by an arcade of arches containing the entrances to various compartments. It has a prayer hall, a tekke, offices, a library, and granaries. The mosque is surrounded by a perimeter wall of laterite blocks which also contains arched gateways for entry. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
