The Shahi Masjid in Mangaluru, India, is a beautifully decorated monument built in 1510 CE. It is a fine example of Islamic architecture from the late medieval period. Designed by Abu Ali Mohammed of Calicut, the mosque is constructed of coral stone and consists of a large courtyard surrounded by four minarets and an ornate prayer hall. The mosque's roof is supported by twelve giant monolithic pillars and the main prayer hall is covered by a large dome. The facades of the mosque are elaborately decorated with Islamic calligraphy and intricate carvings of geometric and floral patterns.
