The impressive edifice of Shahi Masjid, Mangaluru was built in the year 1842 by Tippu Sultan, who was the ruler of Mysore. He is believed to have brought soil from Mecca for the construction of the Mosque. The mosque has gone through many repairs over the years. Today, it stands in its full glory as an architectural marvel and a testament to the faith of thousands of Muslims in Mangaluru. Architecture:

The Shahi Masjid in Mangaluru, India, is a beautifully decorated monument built in 1510 CE. It is a fine example of Islamic architecture from the late medieval period. Designed by Abu Ali Mohammed of Calicut, the mosque is constructed of coral stone and consists of a large courtyard surrounded by four minarets and an ornate prayer hall. The mosque's roof is supported by twelve giant monolithic pillars and the main prayer hall is covered by a large dome. The facades of the mosque are elaborately decorated with Islamic calligraphy and intricate carvings of geometric and floral patterns. There is also an impressive central mihrab on the southern wall of the mosque, which points to the direction of the holy city of Mecca.
