The Jama Masjid of Srinagar is an important Islamic shrine in the city of Srinagar, Kashmir. It was built between 1674 and 1675 AD by Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb's Subedar, Ali Mardan Khan, and is one of the largest mosques in Kashmir. The mosque is made up of two courtyards, of which the inner one is three times the size of the outer one. At the corners of each courtyard are four lofty kiosks with various small rooms and galleries. The main mosque is a square, two-storeyed building with a copper roof, a large dome and two minarets. The walls are finely decorated with marble, and its flooring is carpeted with Persian rugs. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
