Kudakallu Parambu In India: History,Facts, & Services
Overview:
Kudakallu Parambu is the former name of this temple, which means 'Stone Chess'. Located in Thayineri, Kasaragod District, Kerala, the temple is more than 1000 years old and is believed to belong to the 8th century CE. The temple consists of two rock-cut chambers and two linga idols in the inner chambers. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, the presiding deity. Kudakallu ParambuThis national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The temple has a unique rectangular shape with two extremely long walls. The walls are divided into four parts and there are 16 pillars in the four chambers. In the central chamber, there is a single linga idol which is surrounded by three small pillars. There are several other sculptures of gods, goddesses and other spiritual figures adorning the temple walls and various shrines.
