The Salmaniya Mosque in Bahrain is a large Shia Mosque located in the Salmaniya district of Manama, Bahrain. It was built in 1529 and is home to some of the holiest sites in Shia Islam. The mosque is believed to have been named after the late Sheikh Salman bin Hafidh, who served the Abbasid Caliphate in the 16th century and died there in 1529, rebuilding the mosque afterwards. It was also the first mosque built in Bahrain and includes various historical artifacts from the 16th century, including a tablet inscribed with excerpts from the Qur’an.
