Brief History:
Askar Mosque is a beautiful house of worship located in Manama, Bahrain. It is located in the centre of a large complex, which includes a library, classrooms, and other facilities. The Mosque was built by the emir Sheikh Isa Bin Salman Al Khalifa in 1989 and is a unique example of Islamic architecture in Bahrain. It is home to some of the most beautiful Islamic art and architecture in the region, and is renowned for its intricate designs and magnificent prayer hall. The Mosque has become a popular tourist destination due to its impressive historical and cultural significance. It is one of the most famous mosque in Bahrain which you must visit.
Architecture:
The Askar Mosque is located in the eastern part of Bahrain and is believed to date back to the 19th century. The mosque has an elegant combination of traditional Islamic architecture and modern styles. The main façade of the mosque features a minaret that has three balconies over its main entrance, which is accessed through a four-arched gateway. Inside the mosque, there is a prayer hall featuring two arches and a mihrab. There are two courtyards, one of which has an ablutions fountain over a central pool surrounded by four lined pillars. Nearby, there is a semi-dome structure known as a mahfil or meeting place, which is used for discussions and gatherings during religious festivals. Other features include a few graves, a burial chamber and other rooms. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
Visiting Hours:
The visiting hours of Askar Mosque in Bahrain are usually Sundays to Thursdays from 8:00am to 12:00pm and 4:00pm to 9:00pm. However, during Ramadan and other religious holidays, special opening hours may be announced. best mosque in the world.
