The Bahrain Yacht Club (BYC) was established in 1958 as Bahrain's first organised sailing club. It was created with the intention to have a place for Bahrain's sailing elite to gather and socialise. With a membership of only 30 founding members, BYC was set up as a private non-profit organisation and intended to serve as a promotional centre for competitive sailing. Since its inception, the BYC has grown to become a major sailing venue in the Middle East with a rich sailing culture, renowned yacht racing and an active social calendar. Located in the heart of Manama, the BYC is one of the largest marinas in Bahrain with a capacity to house up to 200 boats.
