History:

The Seef Mall in Manama, Bahrain dates back to 1996 when the Seef Investment and Business Group began development of the first shopping mall in Bahrain. The mall opened on Albert Theatre Street as the first shopping centre in Bahrain to provide amenities and services such as anchor store Carrefour for grocery shopping, a post office, a spacious food court, and a games centre. The mall featured an innovative design that drew customers from all over Bahrain and the region. Following its grand opening, the mall earned numerous awards due to its unique structure and mix of stores. This included a prestigious award from the Bahrain Ministry of Culture in 1997 in appreciation of the mall’s contribution to society. In 2006, Seef Investment Group announced a major expansion of the mall, which increased the total shopping space to over 185,000 sq m and increased the number of shops and restaurants by over 100. As part of the expansion, a multi-level car park and a new apartment block were added to the mall, as well as an eight-screen cinema.
