The Al Dur Power and Water Plant, Hidd In Bahrain is the first independent water and power plant in Bahrain. It is owned and financed by the Bahrain Ministry of Electricity and Water. The plant has three power generating turbines with a total capacity of 1199.5 Megawatt (MW). The plant is able to generate 13,000,000 cubic meters of freshwater per day and can supply 100,000 homes with electricity and 400 homes with clean water. The facility was opened in September 2017 and is the largest power and water plant in the Middle East. History:

The Al Dur Power and Water Plant is located in Hidd, Bahrain and is owned and operated by Bahraini electricity and water authority (EWA). The plant was officially inaugurated in September 2011 and is considered to be the leading power and water production facility in the kingdom. The construction of the Al Dur Power and Water Project began in 2006 with the main feature being a 900 MW combined cycle gas turbine facility. This is the largest combined cycle gas turbine in the Middle East and is designed to efficiently produce heat and electricity.
