Brief History:
Al Qalali Mosque is an ancient Islamic structure located in Bahrain. The mosque is believed to be constructed in 1145 AD and was one of the primary mosques of Bahrain. It is located in Manama, the capital of Bahrain, and has become an important landmark in the city. Architecturally, the mosque is an imposing structure, and it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005. The mosque features an arched entrance and a beautifully carved façade, adorned with stone sculptures and intricate designs. Architecture:
The Al Qalali Mosque is located in Manama, Bahrain and was built in 1951 by the Shaikh Isa ibn Ali Al Khalifa. It was constructed in traditional Bahraini architecture and is an example of the many traditional Islamic monuments found in the country. The mosque consists of a two-storey prayer hall, a courtyard, and four minarets. The prayer hall is decorated with calligraphic adornments and features traditional Islamic motifs. The courtyard is surrounded by a low stone wall and has a fountain in the center, which was once used for washing up before prayers. The four 54-meter-tall minarets are adorned with ornamental ceramic on their facades. At the base of the minarets are four stone domes which contain a prayer niche inside. The mosque is also unique for its six tiled prayer niches, which are believed to represent the six main Muslim sects. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
