Al-Jidhafs Mosque is an ancient mosque in the Muharraq Island of Bahrain. It is located in the Al Jidhafs district of Muharraq. This mosque was built in the early 1600s by the Muharraqi merchants, and is one of the oldest mosques in the country. The mosque has a rectangular plan and is built of coral stone and mortar with a pitched roof. The mosque’s minaret is square in shape with a domed top. Inside the mosque, there is a mihrab (reciting niche) that is embellished with color and its walls are adorned with Quranic inscriptions. The mosque is open to the public and is a popular attraction with visitors. It is one of the most famous mosque in Bahrain which you must visit.

Architecture:

Al-Jidhafs Mosque is located in the Muharraq Governorate of Bahrain. It was built in the year 1745 AD and it contains a three-aisle prayer hall with two mihrabs. The prayer hall of the mosque is roofed with five wooden domes and decorated with Islamic geometric designs. The facades of the prayer hall are covered with Islamic calligraphic inscriptions and it has four corner rooms, each corresponded to the four sides of the hall. There are also two minarets, one on each side, connected to the prayer hall with arcades which in turn leads to two terraces. This architecture of Al-Jidhafs Mosque is a classic example of traditional Islamic architectural designs. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.

There is also a historic minaret and a number of monuments dedicated to local prophets. The Al-Jidhafs Mosque is open from 8am to 8pm, Sunday - Thursday, and 9am - 3pm Friday and Saturday.
