Al Muaskar Mosque is one of the most iconic landmarks of Bahrain. Located in the center of Manama, the Bahrain capital, the mosque dates back to the medieval times. It was originally constructed during the reign of the Persian Empire Badr bin Umar Al Khalifa, ruler of Bahrain from 1659–1672. The mosque was completed in 1666 and has served as the city's main mosque ever since. The mosque is built in the Ottoman Baroque style and its minarets measure over 43 metres in height. It is believed to be the first Ottoman Baroque mosque constructed in the region and is listed on the Bahraini National Register of Historic Buildings. The mosque underwent a major renovation in 1986, adding more space and a magnificent dome on its main prayer hall, while the interior has also been restored. It is no longer used as a primary Friday mosque and is mainly open for visitors. It is one of the most famous mosque in Bahrain which you must visit.

The exterior of the mosque is covered in marble and features a combination of Arabesque and Sāmiri decorative elements. The interior of the mosque also features traditional Islamic decorative elements such as geometrical motifs and inscriptions. The mosque also contains a library, museum and a gift shop. Al Muaskar Mosque is a great example of traditional Islamic architecture and serves a place of worship and contemplation for Muslims in the Bahraini community. The Al Muaskar Mosque is open to visitors from 8am to 10pm from Saturday to Thursday and on Fridays from 4pm to 10pm.
