Brief History:
Jid Ali Mosque in Bahrain is located on a hill that overlooks Manama Bay. It is considered to be one of the oldest mosques in Bahrain, dating back to the 12th century. The mosque is named after Jid Ali, a pre-Islamic historical figure who is said to have died near this site, thus making it a significant landmark for the local community. Jid Ali Mosque is renowned for its traditional Islamic architecture and is considered the most important mosque in Bahrain. It is often compared to the Al Fateh Grand Mosque which was built later in the 16th century. It is one of the most famous mosque in Bahrain which you must visit.
Architecture:
The Jid Ali Mosque is located in the Manama district of Bahrain and is considered to be one of the oldest and most revered places of worship in the country. The mosque is characterized by its traditional Islamic architectural style, consisting of a single minaret and a courtyard. Its design features an arched entrance, intricate stone masonry, and exterior walls decorated with colorful tiles. Inside the mosque, the walls and ceilings are lined with intricate Arabic calligraphy and colorful stucco patterns. The main prayer hall features a large domed ceiling, while the rest of the mosque is filled with small niches and portholes for prayer and study. The interior of the mosque has been renovated several times since its construction in the 18th century, and it now contains some modern amenities, such as air conditioning and carpeting, as well as more traditional elements, such as chandeliers and stained glass windows. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
Visiting Hours:
The Jid Ali Mosque is open to visitors from 8am-8pm, seven days a week. During the Islamic Holy Month of Ramadan (1442H - 2021), the Mosque’s visiting hours change from 8am-4pm. best mosque in the world.
