Brief History:
Al-Manama Mosque is one of the oldest mosques in Bahrain and dates back to the 16th century. Located in the area known as Al-Manama near Manama, it was built in the 16th century to serve as a place of worship for Bahraini citizens. It was originally constructed for the members of the Al-Jaffari sect. The mosque used to be a major center of teaching and learning in the region. In the 18th century, it was converted into a government office and later to a prison. The name of the mosque was derived from the Arabic word "Manama" which means entangle or tightly intertwined, referring to the story that many ships had to navigate through a tight or narrow space to reach the port of Manama. Today, Al-Manama is an important landmark in Bahrain and is still used for religious and cultural activities. It is one of the most famous mosque in Bahrain which you must visit.

The Al-Manama Mosque is a grand mosque in Manama, Bahrain, located in the capital's diplomatic district. It is considered to be one of the most important religious sites in the country. The mosque is designed by a renowned architect Ahmed Al-Hassan and is built in traditional Islamic architectural style and its construction was completed in 2016. The mosque consists of three levels of structures which includes an impressive main prayer hall, resting area for the worshipers, four spacious courtyard, a library, a multi-purpose hall for social gatherings, a ladies prayer hall, and a car park. The main prayer hall has a large central dome, with bright golden Arabic motifs adorning it, and nine smaller domes along the perimeter of the room. It also has a tall minaret as well as four windowed walls serving as decorative façade. The joining of the two prominent features creates the bold, multi-dimensional presence of the mosque. The design also includes intricately patterned marble flooring, reflecting the culture of the region, and a large water fountain at the entrance hall. The courtyard is surrounded by elegant two-story porticos on each side, which supports beautiful canopies and provides places for distributing food and drinks during fasting period and other religious ceremonies. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.

Al-Manama Mosque in Bahrain is open to the public for visiting from 8 am to 11:30 am. During visiting hours, visitors may take photos and enjoy the beautiful interior of the mosque.
