Brief History:
is a mosque located in Zallaq Village, Bahrain. It was built in the 16th century, and is one of the oldest mosques in the country. The mosque is famous for its circular, domed structure, which is said to be the first of its kind in the region. The mosque was renovated in the 19th century and features a decorated mihrab, an elevated minbar, and colorful stained-glass windows. It is one of the most famous mosque in Bahrain which you must visit.
Architecture:
The Al-Zallaq Mosque is located on Bahrain’s western coast and is a prominent example of Islamic architecture in the region. The building is constructed from local limestone, and the walls are adorned with a range of decorative elements such as carved arches and shapes, a geometrical pattern of monochromatic tiles, and inscriptions of verses from the Quran. The mosque is supported by four minarets and is topped by a large green dome, visible from far away. Inside the mosque, the layout follows the classic Qiblah architectural style, with the mihrab (prayer niche) located in the centre to indicate the direction of prayer. The interior of the mosque is also adorned with intricate artwork, ornate mosaics, and colorful frescoes. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
Visiting Hours:
The visiting hours at Al-Zallaq Mosque in Bahrain are 8:00am to 12:00pm daily. There is no time restriction for the visiting hours. However, it is advised to avoid visiting during peak hours, which are generally between 11am and 12pm, as the mosque can get crowded during this time.
