The mosque is believed to have been built in 1879 by Sheikh Bimetah, the ruler of Bahrain at the time. Inside the mosque, there is a small courtyard, a mehrab (a niche in the wall indicating the direction of prayer), and numerous ancient paintings. The mosque also contains the grave of Late Sheikh Mohammed bin Essa Al Khalifa, a prominent figure in Bahrain's history. The Al Qadam Mosque is an 18th-century architectural gem in Manama, Bahrain. The structure is a traditional three-aisled mosque, with a North African style of architecture. The mosque’s main prayer hall is constructed around a marble courtyard divided into four aisles, which are connected through four arches. A central dome, with four half-domes at each corner of the mosque, domes the courtyard. The minaret is a four-storied building, with an octagonal base, covered with a white dome. The mosque is made of locally quarried limestone decorated with intricate Quranic verses. The main portal of the mosque, along with its four side entrances, is framed by a finely sculpted marble.
