Brief History:
Al-Muharraq Mosque or “the Grand Mosque of the East” is one of the oldest and most revered mosques in the kingdom of Bahrain. Located in Muharraq city, about 3.5 km east of Manama, this mosque was constructed around the 8th century AD. It is said to have been part of the ancient Qarmatian civilization in Bahrain, one of the last remaining settlements of Muslims in the Arabian Gulf region. The mosque's main structure is based on the Quranic dimensions with four levels. The first three levels serve as an area for prayer where individuals and groups can gather for congregational worship. The fourth level is an open courtyard with a platform for preaching. Throughout its modern history, Al-Muharraq Mosque has seen many renovations or “regenerations”. In the 15th century, the mosque was renovated by Arab Sheikh Makram bin Musa, in the 19th century it was renovated by Arab Sheikh Mohammed bin Suleiman. These, and subsequent renovations have kept the mosque in its original shape and purpose, despite its age. Today, the mosque continues to be a sacred site for Islamic worship in Bahrain. It welcomes Muslims, and visitors alike. The mosque is a reminder of the grand history of Islam in Bahrain and serves as a place of spiritual guidance for its people. Architecture:
The Al-Muharraq Mosque is one of the oldest mosques in Bahrain and was built in the 14th century by the ruling ruler of Bahrain during the period, Sheikh Sidan Bin Abdullah. The mosque was built using materials that were common during that time such as stone and wood. The mosque consists of three domes, one main prayer hall, and a side room used for other religious ceremonies. The main prayer hall is the most impressive architectural feature as it is the larges and most decorated space within the mosque. The central dome is the widest of the domes and is covered with intricate blue and white tiles, while the other two domes are smaller in size and have a plain exterior. The mosque also features four tall minarets and several strong columns which provide structural support to the building. These columns and the domes help to create an atmosphere of grandeur and opulence. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.

The Al-Muharraq Mosque in Bahrain is open for prayer seven days a week during the following times: Monday-Friday: Fajr Prayer: 3:30am - 4:00am, Zuhr Prayer: 12:00pm - 1:00pm, Asr Prayer: 4:00pm - 5:00pm, Maghrib Prayer: 6:00pm - 6:30pm, Isha Prayer: 7:30pm - 8:30pm Saturday-Sunday: Fajr Prayer: 3:30am - 4:00am, Zuhr Prayer: 12:00pm - 1:00pm, Asr Prayer: 3:30pm - 5:00pm, Maghrib Prayer: 6:00pm - 6:30pm, Isha Prayer: 7:00pm - 8:30pm Please note that the mosque is closed between 12:30pm and 4:00pm every day. best mosque in the world.

Hours of Operation: The Al-Muharraq Mosque is open for prayer from 5am to 12 midnight, with Friday prayers beginning at 10am. Other Information: The Al-Muharraq Mosque is the oldest mosque in Bahrain, built in the 18th century. It is considered a holy site by locals and attracts many visitors.
