The Al-Ghuraifa Mosque is located in Al Muharraq City, Bahrain. The Mosque is one of Bahrain’s most famous and historically significant features and is an important part of national heritage. The central dome is surrounded by a series of smaller domes, each one set upon a set of four pillars. These pillars form a rectangular shape which is then decorated with traditional Islamic ornaments and designs. The centre of the dome is decorated with a large chandelier, while the walls of the mosque are painted with verses from the Quran. Al-Ghuraifa Mosque is located in the small city of Al-Ghuraira, Bahrain. The closest major airport is Bahrain International Airport, located 56 km (35 mi) from Al-Ghuraira. The airport is serviced by several major airlines, such as Kuwait Airways, Qatar Airways, and Emirates. Taxi services and rental cars are available at the airport for easy access to Al-Ghuraira. Located 8 km (5 mi) away from Al-Ghuraira is the town of Al-Hidd. From here, buses and vans are available to take visitors to Al-Ghuraira. The closest town to Al-Ghuraira is Shakhura. It is only 4 km (2.5 mi) away. There are buses that will take visitors from Shakhura to Al-Ghuraira in about 20 minutes. Al-Ghuraira is located on the west coast of Bahrain. There are regular ferry services from the port of Muharraq to Al-Ghuraira. The ferry will take visitors to the port of Al-Ghuraira, which is a 5 minute walk away from the mosque.
