The Hamad Town Grand Mosque in Bahrain was opened in 2014 and is one of the most iconic landmarks in the country. The mosque was named after the late king of Bahrain, Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and is the largest in the Bahrain islands. It boasts four Tunisian marble prayer halls and a special domed roof that doubles as a golden crescent moon. The grand hall is spacious enough to accommodate up to 10,000 worshippers at a time. The central dome of the mosque is 37 m in diameter and rises to a height of 92 meters, making it one of the tallest minarets in Bahrain. The exterior of the mosque is adorned with intricate geometric designs, including colorful arabesque patterns, while the interior of the building is decorated with intricate ceilings, marble walls, and tall marble columns. The Hamad Town Grand Mosque is located in Hamad Town, Bahrain and is easily accessible via bus or car. For those traveling by bus, routes 91, 92, 93, and 94 all stop near the mosque. When driving, the mosque is located near Road 2355, so it should be easy to find. Car parking is available outside the mosque for visitors. The mosque is open from 8am to 11pm, seven days a week. There is no admission fee and no dress code. However, visitors must remove their shoes when entering the mosque and must cover their heads while in the prayer area.
