Architecture:

The Jaffaria Islamic Center in Bahrain is a prominent symbol of the Ismaili Shia community's religious and cultural identity. This center was constructed and opened in 2013 as a form of consolidating the local Shia community in Bahrain. The center is characterized by its mix of modern architectural designs and traditionally Islamic elements. The center contains five main prayer halls and a large open courtyard. The main prayer hall is the largest and most impressive in the complex, and its design is based on traditional Islamic architecture. It has a large dome supported by four smaller domes, and the architects incorporated a traditional Islamic diagonal lightwell ceiling to filter light into the hall. The other four prayer halls each have distinct designs, but they generally feature arches and domes that create a flowing interior space. These halls contain Quranic verses that were designed in Arabic calligraphy and are further decorated with intricate arabesque patterns. Additionally, the entire complex utilizes natural materials such as timber, marble, travertine, and local stone for a truly unique look. The courtyard of the Jaffaria Islamic Center reinforces its Islamic identity with its brilliant blue open-air dome. Inside, the dome is decorated with Islamic star patterns and images from Quran. The courtyard also contains a mirrored pool and a series of fountains which add to the mystical atmosphere of the center. Overall, the Jaffaria Islamic Center has an impressive mix of modern architectural features and traditional Islamic design elements. These components work together to create a unique and inspiring space for the Shia community in Bahrain to congregate, worship, and celebrate their faith. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
