Brief History:

is a mosque located in South Riffa, Bahrain, and is considered the biggest existing mosque in Bahrain. It was built in 2012 and was funded by the His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. The mosque includes four minarets, a spacious courtyard, two large prayer halls, and several other features. It also houses an Islamic library, a centre for Islamic studies, and a visitor’s centre. It is one of the most famous mosque in Bahrain which you must visit.

The Riffa Grand Mosque is a major landmark in Bahrain and features a contemporary architectural design. The mosque is built in a large chalet-style format, and features a central golden dome with a wooden prayer hall and four stories. The entire structure is adorned with intricate stone and marble carvings. The grand entrance hall, adorned with colorful tiles, leads to the main prayer hall, with winding corridors and a large carpeted area. The interior is decorated with a combination of original Persian designs, contemporary elements, and traditional Bahraini motifs. The mosque is equipped with Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and a modern audio system. In addition to its considerable size, Riffa Grand Mosque also features a grand minaret, a glowing chandelier, and stained glass windows. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.

Visiting Hours:

Riffa Grand Mosque visitors can usually visit between 8.00am to 12.00pm and from 4pm to 7pm all days of the week, with the exception of Friday. On Fridays the mosque opens at 8am and closes after the noon prayer (Jumu'ah prayer).

Travel Information:

Riffa Grand Mosque is located in Riffa district of Bahrain, about 15 kilometers from Manama city center. The grand mosque is accessible by car or bus from Manama. There is a public bus that runs from Manama city center to Riffa Mosque every half hour. It takes approximately thirty minutes to one hour, depending on the traffic. Private taxis are also available from Manama city center to the Riffa Mosque. Approximate fares for taxis cost around 15-20 Bahraini Dinar depending on the final destination. The mosque is open year around from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, however it is not open to non-Muslims. Cameras are allowed inside the mosque with prior permission.
