Brief History:

Hazratbal Dargah is a famous Sufi shrine dedicated to the memory of Syed Makhdoom Ismail Sahib, a renowned scholar from Amroha in India. The octagonal shaped mausoleum of Ismail Sheik is the centre of this revered shrine. It is believed that the shrine was initially built in 1074 AD by his father Sheikh Taj-ud-Din. It was then renovated by his son Nawab Sayyed Mian Ismail in 1602. The grave of Ismail Sahib is protected by an intricately carved marble and metal screen of five panels. Hazratbal Dargah is a place of great religious importance for the Muslims of India and an important pilgrimage site for the Sufis of India.
