He was born in 1682 AD in Village Jistan, Bidar District, in the state of Karnataka, India. He was known for his deep faith and love for Allah and for his generous hospitality. He was a great scholar and teacher of the Islamic religion and Islamic mysticism, and he also established an Islamic learning centre in Bidar. His teachings were followed by many people in India and around the world. He was popularly known as “Pir-i-Murad”. He passed away in 1717 AD, and his dargah was built in his remembrance. The mausoleum of Hazrat Syed Shah Murad Ali Sahib was constructed mostly in Indo-Saracenic style of architecture, with influences from other Islamic architectural forms. It has an impressive entrance gateway, decorated with panels and stone pillars. The entrance is topped by a large dome, with two minarets on its four corners. The sprawling complex consists of the main tomb enclosure, a mosque, and an open marble floor adorned with colorful patterns. The complex also houses a sacred tank, believed to have been the watering spot of Hazrat Syed Shah Murad Ali Sahib. The mausoleum walls are adorned with various colorful frescoes and intricate carvings, featuring intricate and ornamental designs.
