The Tipu Sultan's Upper Fort and Citadel and Nagalacheruva are some of the most impressive monuments in Hampi, Karnataka, India. It was constructed in the late 1700s to serve as the walled citadel of the kingdom of Mysore, of which Tipu Sultan was king. The fort is divided into four sections, designed to house a large number of soldiers, artillery, and other defense systems. History:
The Tipu Sultan's Upper Fort and Citadel and Nagalacheruva boasts of some impressive structural features. There are two large open courtyards in the middle of the fort, surrounded by courtyards, bastions and bastion bastions that were used for defense. The fort also features a large entrance gate, an artillery battery of copper cannons, guard towers, multiple entrance gates, and an outer wall surrounded by a deep ditch. The Tipu Sultan's Upper Fort and Citadel were built in the late 1700s by Tipu Sultan, ruler of the Kingdom of Mysore. It was intended to serve as a citadel for the kingdom and strategic military base for defending against the British and other hostile forces. The fort is said to have taken two thousand laborers and six months to build. During the Siege of Bangalore in 1791, the fort was used as a base by Tipu’s forces in order to launch counter-offensives against the British.
