The Sar Mosque, located in the heart of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s capital city, Manama, is one of the oldest mosques in Bahrain and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. The Sar Mosque (also known as the Sarai Mosque) is believed to have been built as early as 1544 AD by the then governor, Mohammad bin Ghalib Al-Hussaini, and named for its proximity to the Sarai Fort. The mosque has undergone multiple renovations since it was first built, and its current minaret was added during a renovation in 1978. The mosque also features colorful stained glass windows and intricate calligraphy work. It has become an important center of prayer for Bahraini citizens and visitors alike and is a popular place for locals to perform Umrah and congregational prayers. The Sar Mosque in Bahrain is a 16th century architectural masterpiece located in the northern city of Muharraq. The visiting hours of Sar Mosque in Bahrain vary depending on the season. The mosque is usually open from 7am to 11am and 4pm to 9pm during summertim; and from 7am to 11am and 1pm to 4 pm during wintertime.
