Al-Muqsha Mosque is one of the oldest mosques in Bahrain and was built in 886 CE by Abdul Malik, the ruler of Bahrain in the 12th century. It served for centuries as a place of worship for Muslims located near Muharraq Island in Bahrain's northeastern region. Al-Muqsha Mosque is renowned for its finely decorated façade and its gold-painted mihrabs that were crafted by renowned craftsmen from Andalusia. The mosque has served as a centre of religious learning, with the famous scholar Ibn Rushd having taught here during the 12th century. The mosque is open to visitors and still serves the communities of Muharraq today. It is one of the most famous mosque in Bahrain which you must visit.

The Al-Muqsha Mosque is located in the city of Muharraq, which is the second oldest city in Bahrain, and was built in 1824. It is a classic example of late Bahrani architecture, and is considered the most important mosque of the city. The mosque is made from traditional Bahrani gypsum and coral bricks and features a large prayer hall, an exposed minaret, and two levels of surrounding terraces. The entrance and side walls feature neon-blue carvings of Koranic verses, with the exposed minaret being decorated with geometric patterns. The dome of the mosque is also decorated in intricate patterns and motifs. The internal decorations of the mosque consist of engraved wooden panels, which are further enriched with silver and gold.
