Zardab Mosque is the oldest and most remarkable monument in the city of Zardab, Azerbaijan. It is located near the banks of the river Shirvan, and dates back to the 14th century. The mosque is built in the traditional Caucasian style of architecture, and consists of a single large, domed pavilion with four minarets. Its most distinctive feature is the carved limestone mihrab (niche indicating the qibla or direction of prayer) which is located inside the mosque. Other features include complex floral decoration, intricate geometric patterns, and a calligraphic inscription of Qurʾanic verses, all of which are typical of earlier mosques in the region. The mosque is considered to be an important work of Islamic architecture in Azerbaijan, and has been used as a place of prayer, religious education, and civic gatherings throughout its history.
