Brief History:

The Bodrum Mosque, located in the city of Bodrum in the Muğla province of Turkey, was completed by the Ottoman Sultan Süleyman the Magnificent in 1522. Construction began in January 1520 and was completed in only one year and three months, making it one of the fastest constructed Ottoman buildings. The mosque was originally called the Ahmet Bey Mosque, after the Ottoman governor of the region at the time. The building is made of cut stones, with a classical Ottoman design and is a three-room mosque with an inner courtyard. The inner room has a central oval plan, a dome supported by four columns and two galleries along the walls. The main dome is covered with lead sheets, while the smaller secondary dome includes stained glass. The mosque also includes a kiosk, fountains, and other features. The interior is decorated with various artistically carved and painted wooden and stone fixtures, as well as Iznik tiles. The mosque still acts as an important worship and cultural site in the city and is considered one of the masterpieces of the Ottoman era. The Bodrum Mosque is a mosque located in Bodrum, Muğla province, southwestern Turkey. It was built in the early 15th century by the Ottoman Empire and is one of the oldest surviving mosques in the country. The building is constructed out of hand carved stone and brick and is a popular tourist attraction because of its historical and cultural significance. Visitors can explore the history of the mosque by visiting the archaeological museum located near the site. The Mosque is open to visitors on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9am to 4pm, on Fridays from 9am to 11am, and on Saturdays from 8am to 4pm.
