Brief History:
Al Quriyat Mosque in Oman is located in Rustaq and was built more than 500 years ago in the 15th century. It is one of the oldest mosques in the region, and one of the few Islamic architecture examples in the country that still retains much of its original structure. Many locals and tourists visit the mosque to see its unique and impressive architecture, which features intricate carvings, decorative windows, and a central dome. The mosque is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site and is regarded as an important cultural site in Oman. It is one of the most famous mosque in Oman which you must visit.
Architecture:
The Al Quriyat Mosque is a traditional round styled mosque located in Al Quriyat, Oman. It is a beautiful example of Islamic architecture, featuring a unique facade of curved jali screens and a magnificent main dome. The mosque was originally built in the traditional Omani style architecture, which was blended with elements from both the Indian and the Middle Eastern styles. The main feature of the mosque is its circular minaret, which stands at a height of around 20 meters. The interior is painted in a striking white color with azure tiled floors. The interior also features a stunning mihrab, or prayer niche, set into the western wall of the mosque. The mosque also contains two minarets, two tall and slender towers that form an integral part of most Islamic architecture. The mosque also contains a minbar, which stands for the pulpit from which the Imam delivers his sermon each week. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
