Al Suwayh North West Mosque is located in Gufuf in the North West corner of Oman. It is a traditional Islamic structure comprising of prayer hall, ablution area and a large domed roof. This mosque was built in the early 19th century. According to local tradition, it was supposedly established as a location of study and gathering for the people of Gufuf and nearby villages. Throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, the mosque has been used by the local community for worship and was also used as a stage for anti-colonialism rallies during the 1970s.
