CSI St Luke’s Tamil Church is an Orthodox Church established in 1950 under the Christian Mission in the East of the Church of South India Diocese of Nandyal. St Luke’s is the Pioneer Tamil Congregation in the city of Hyderabad. The church follows a centuries old belief system and rites & ordinances laid down in the Church of South India. It is one of the best churches in Oman which you must visit.

History:

The church was initially started as a small prayer group in 1949 at Nizamabad and consecrated in 1950. Later it was moved to Hyderabad and was affiliated to the CSI Diocese of Nandyal, Andhra Pradesh in 1953. The infrastructure was laid in 1985 with Rev. A. Joy Sundary Paul as the vicar. In 1995 Rev. Dr Thirumalachar S. Paul was appointed as vicar. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Oman.
