It was built in the early 17th century, and rebuilt between 1772 and 1795 under the reign of Sultan Saif bin Sultan. The mosque has a rectangular plan, with a large courtyard in the center and four towers at the corners, which are topped with tall conical domes and have their walls decorated with Kufic inscriptions.
