Al Ashkharah North South West East Mosque is one of the oldest and most important mosques in Oman. It's Located in the Wilayat of Al Ashkharah in Dhofar Region. It is believed to have been built during the reign of Imam al Mutahhari (825 A.H.-905 A.H., 1422 A.D.-1499 A.D.). This multi-purposed mosque serves as a place of worship, but is also used by members of the community for study, law courts, religious lectures and prayers. The mosque is believed to be the first mosque in Oman to combine all four sides, known as the North, South, East and West Prayer Directions, all of which face toward the direction of Kaaba in Mecca.
