Brief History:
Al Khaluf Mosque in the coastal sand town of the Sultanate of Oman is said to be the oldest mosque in the country. Located in the Dhofar Governorate, the mosque is believed to have been built as early as the 16th century and is renowned for its unique architecture and design. The mosque is one of Dhofar’s oldest Islamic monuments, and is believed to have housed the grave of a prominent Muslim scholar who had traveled to the area from India. The mosque is a major architectural influence in Oman and is an important point of pilgrimage for Muslims in the area. The mosque is made up of two sections, and the outer section is where the Friday prayers are held. The older section of the mosque holds the graves of prominent Muslim scholars and the inner section holds the shrine of the Kalbani family, the family of Ali bin Abi Talib, the son-in-law of the prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him). The mosque is also known for its traditional Islamic architecture and its grand decorations. It is one of the most famous mosque in Oman which you must visit.

The Al Khaluf Mosque is located in the southern port city of Salalah, Oman. The mosque is an example of traditional Omani architecture, built in the 19th century. It is a single-storey, rectangular building constructed from natural stone and mud, which is typical of the region. The mosque features large pointed arches, influenced by Islamic architecture of the region. The central prayer hall has five large arches that support its heavily decorated ceiling. The interior is decorated with intricate Islamic geometrical patterns and calligraphy. The minaret is constructed from granite, and is covered in ornate carvings. The mosque is surrounded by small dwellings and shops, making it part of the traditional way of life in the city. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
