Al Khabourah Mosque is the first mosque in Muscat, the capital city of Oman. It was built in the 17th century and is also known as the Al Amani Mosque. It was erected by Imam Sultan bin Seif Al Ya'rubi and is said to have been constructed in less than one year. The mosque is located inside the old Muscat city wall near the city gate of the same name, Al Khabourah Gate. It has two floors, the upper one ending in a muezzin's gallery set in a dome. The interior courtyard contains a qibla wall indicating the direction of Mecca. There is also an octagonal dome which stands in front of seven columns at the entrance to the mosque.
