Architecture:

The Al Khoudh South North Mosque in Oman was built in the traditional Islamic design of the early 14th century. The structure spans approximately 32,000 square meters and features various mihrabs, columns, and prayer halls. The Mihrab (altar) is covered with a dome and holds the three pillars of Islam: The Qur'an, the Hadith, and the Sunna. The columns and walls are made of intricately carved sandstone with fine detail. The columns are also decorated with greenery, such as palm fronds, which connect to the lush foliage in the surrounding area. The exterior walls feature two large, decorated arches which frame the mosque’s entrance. The rooftop of the mosque sports a dome with a crescent moon on its apex, symbolizing Islam. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.

Al Khoudh South North Mosque is located in the Wilayat of Al Khoudh in Muscat Governorate of Oman. The mosque is located in Al Khoudh Souq, near the junction of Al Khoudh-Sur Road. It is approximately 20 km away from Muscat International Airport. It is easily accessible by taxi or private car. The mosque is open to all Muslims all day, except during times of communal prayer. Non-Muslims are invited to visit the outside of the mosque, but are not permitted to enter the premises.
