Brief History:
Al Mudhaireb West Mosque in Oman was built in 1649 by Sultan bin Saif Al Yarbui, a famous Omani Imam. It is a beautiful example of Omani architecture set in a small village near the city of Nizwa. The mosque consists of three white-washed buildings enclosed within a wall of white coral and marble. The mosque is surrounded by two gardens and has a mihrab and minbar. The mosque is used by locals as a gathering place for religious ceremonies, meetings and lectures. It is one of the most famous mosque in Oman which you must visit.
Architecture:
The Al Mudhaireb West Mosque, located in Ibri, Oman, was built over a three-year period beginning in 2048. It is a rectangular building with four mashrabiya minarets on each corner. The exterior is clad in decorative plaster and its walls are painted with bright colors. The entrance of the mosque is decorated with a large stone arch, and inside, the prayer hall is encased in plaster with three carved domes. Large windows provide natural light to the interior, and colorful tiles are used for decoration. The interior features several mihrabs, as well as a lecture hall and a library. In the center of the mosque is an open courtyard. The mosque is an example of Omani Islamic architecture and is seeing increased tourism for its aesthetic value. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
Visiting Hours:
The Al Muhadhir Mosque in Muscat, Oman, is open to the public from Thursday through Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. The mosque also hosts special events and activities over the weekends. During Ramadan the mosque is open from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. best mosque in the world.
