The building consists of a rectangular prayer hall with four iwans, or arcaded chambers, one in each corner. The northern iwan opens into the central dome and the other three open onto a large open-air courtyard. The western and eastern iwans have two doors, while the southern iwan has only one. The interior is decorated in vibrant colored tiles and intricate carvings which depict Islamic images, calligraphy and inscriptions. The facade is also decorated with intricate ornamentation including Islamic texts and abstract designs. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
