It was built more than 40 years ago and is one of the oldest mosques in the country, being constructed shortly after the Sultanate of Oman was founded in the early 1970s. The mosque has a traditional Moorish design, with a simple white brick façade decorated with a few balconies and open arches. The main prayer hall is large enough to hold more than 1,000 worshippers. The Al Rumaylah North East Mosque is located in the Dhofar Governorate, in the south of Oman. The mosque has a simple design with a main prayer hall and five adjoining chambers. The mihrab, the niche indicating the qiblah, is located at the end of each chamber. The mosque is built of coral stone and decorated with a range of colourful tiles. The dome is supported by four pointed arches. The minaret is two stories, decorated with stripes. Inside the mosque, Islamic motifs and calligraphy adorn the walls and pillars. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
