Brief History:
: Subhan Masjid, Coimbatore is a prominent mosque located in the city of Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. It is the oldest mosque in the city, believed to be built in 1619 AD by Tipu Sultan. The mosque has been an important religious centre for nearly 400 years due to its grandeur and majestic architecture. The structure is said to have been built with Rajasthani designs and European influence as well. It has a large bare hall as well as a large courtyard with two minaret towers. The Subhan Masjid is located in the heart of Coimbatore city, one of the most populous metropolitan cities in India. Designed by an award-winning architect, the mosque is an example of traditional Islamic architecture. The exterior of the mosque is designed in white marble, while the walls are adorned with intricate geometric and floral designs. The interiors are decorated in a modern fusion of traditional and contemporary styles, with the walls adorned with intricate woodwork. The prayer hall features a soaring 40-foot dome covered in gold-leafed panels, while the graceful arches of the mihrab evoke a spiritual atmosphere. The mosque also features a large courtyard, which serves as a meeting place for worshipers. Other features such as a library, lecture halls, and classrooms allow the masjid to serve the educational needs of the community. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
