Banasar House In India: History,Facts, & Services
Overview:
The Banasar House is an iconic structure that stands in all its magnificence in what is today the Ajmer city of Rajasthan. Built in 1737 by the Mehta Rajput family as their seat, Banasar House was a royal residence for many years. The imposing structure of the house is made of finely carved pink sandstone, and comes with a mix of Mughal and Rajput architecture. There are various interesting features within the complex, and the house has been aptly preserved for its cultural and architectural significance. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
One of the most prominent features of the Banasar House is the beautifully designed balconies. These intricately designed projects from the top level of the house, and are embellished with traditional motifs. Besides the balconies, other noteworthy features of the house includes its terraced rooftops, large windows and cast iron grille. There is also a traditional Indian gate made of red sandstone, which leads to the courtyard of the house. You must visit one of these historical places in India on your India tour
Interesting facts:
• Banasar House was the first house in Ajmer to be built entirely from pink sandstone. • It was used as a base for various important events, such as the worship of Lord Jagannath and for coronation ceremonies of the Rajputs. • In 1811, the Banasar House was destroyed by the British and the family was forced to flee the city. • The house was renovated in 1838 and the family returned to take up residence.Visit one of the famous monuments of India with your friends and family.
