Brief History:
is located in the historic city of Bhatkal, in the Indian state of Karnataka.believed to have been constructed around the 16th century, the mosque is noted for its architectural style and is dedicated to the Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan. The mosque has a large, open courtyard surrounded by four minarets, which are topped by cupolas. The interior has a large prayer hall and a mosque which is covered by a huge dome with an ornamental finial at the top. The walls of the mosque are decorated with a variety of stucco work and tiles. The mosque also contains tombs, courtyards, tombs of saints, and an old mosque. It is one of the most famous mosque in India which you must visit.
Architecture:
The Shahi Masjid in Bhatkal was built in the 14th century and is regarded as one of the oldest mosques in India. The mosque follows the typical style of Mughal architecture that was popular in that era. The main structure of the mosque includes four arched entryways, three graceful domes, and minarets that are crowned with small cupolas. The interior of Shahi Masjid is adorned with intricategeometrical and floral motifs, while the exterior is highlighted with vibrant stone carvings. The structure also includes an open courtyard, where the devotees can gather together to pray. Despite the destruction caused by centuries of wars and harsh weather, the building still stands tall in its all glory. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
