Shahi Masjid (Royal Mosque) in Aligarh is a very popular mosque located near the historic monument of Raja Jaswant Singh Palace. It was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan between 1635 and 1641. The monument is included in the Archaeological Survey of India list of Monuments of National Importance. The fabric of the mosque is of stone, bricks and carved grey sandstone with the domes of white marble. It has five arched facades, each one with three arches and a large central dome with ancillary arched apartments. This mosque also has five graceful minarets, with their elegant contours.
