Battis Khamba In India: History,Facts, & Services
Overview:
Battis Khamba is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is circumscribed by a sacred wall. It is considered to be one of the ancient shive temples in northern India and is said to be around 1500 years old. This temple is also known as ‘Tila Batt’ and is located on the banks of the River Jhelum near Nawa Kadal. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The temple is known for its distinct architecture and is built on a higher plane situated above the Nawa Kadal Lake. The temple itself is ornately decorated with carvings, while its roof is a pyramid-shaped construct. There is also a pond within the temple premises which is mainly used for bathing by the devotees. Inside the temple is a Shiva Lingam, built with granite stones and further enclosed with a silver canopy. Over the years, the temple has been renovated and its stairs and walls have been adorned with intricate wooden carvings. You must visit one of these historical places in India on your India tour

The temple has been a place of worship for centuries and is also associated with Hindu mythology and spirituality. Every year, an annual festival called Battis Khamba Mela is held here which is attended by both Hindus and Muslims.
