Brief History:

is a historical dargah situated in Bhendi Bazaar of Mumbai India. It is dedicated to Shaikh Talkh Murad Shah, a Sufi saint who arrived in the city in 1339. It is also known among locals as the Bhendi Bazaar Dargah. It is said that, Shaikh Talkh Murad Shah had performed miracles and cured people with his spiritual blessings. His real name was Sayyed Murad Shah and he got the title of Shaikh Talkh Murad from residents of the city. Hazrat Sayyed Murad Shah Dargah remains a spiritual sanctuary for many. People of all religions can visit this dargah and seek blessings. It is one of the most famous mosque in India which you must visit.

Architecture:

The Hazrat Sayyed Murad Shah Dargah, located in the Muslims dominated Mazgaon area of Mumbai, is the dargah (shrine) of a Sufi saint, Sayyed Murad Shah. The dargah complex is one of the oldest in the city, originally built in 1672 and refurbished with white marble in 1886 by a wealthy follower of the saint. The dargah complex is built as a series of interconnected quadrangle courtyards with mosque and tombs in the centre. A high sandstone gate with three arched openings open to the main courtyard. Grandiose arches stand guarding the mosque and a pathway leads to it, flanked with arcades on both sides and arches on the top. The mosque is built on a raised platform with four minarets in each corner. The domes of the mosque are adorned with jali patterns, usually seen with Indo-Islamic architecture. On the right is the double-storeyed women's gallery which can accommodate over thousand women. The premises of the Dargah also houses a well with a canopy over a pond, several prayer halls and sepulchres of other Muslim saints. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
