Overview:
The Gate of Old Fort is a historical monument in Delhi, India. It is located at the entrance of the Purana Qila, an ancient fort built in 1538. The gate, constructed in 1541 by the Mughal emperor Humayun, is an imposing structure made of red stone and marble and is one of the oldest monuments in Delhi, India. It has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The Gate of Old Fort has two gateways and two bastions, a gatehouse and a gate tower, and is decorated with tiles, inlaid marble, stone carvings and ornamental designs. It also has inscriptions from the Qur'an, in Arabic and Persian, on both the entrance and the interior walls. You must visit one of these historical places in India on your India tour
