Overview:
The Tomb of Shah Numa or Maqbara-e-Shah Numa is an impressive mausoleum located in Peshawar, Pakistan. It was built in 1630 during the reign of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. The tomb is a important example of Mughal architecture in the subcontinent and is a major tourist attraction in Peshawar. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The Tomb of Shah Numa is a large, tile-covered shrine which stands about 30 feet tall and is square in shape. It is decorated with intricate patterns and glazed tiles in various shades of blue. The entrance is framed by a large gate topped with an open octagonal pavilion which provides a good view of the surrounding area. Inside the tomb, a central chamber is surrounded by four smaller rooms on the four sides. The walls of the tomb are decorated with Mughal paintings.
