Jatingi Ramesvara Temple In India: History,Facts, & Services
Overview:
Jatingi Ramesvara Temple is one of the most important temples dedicated to Lord Rama located in South India. It is located in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh, in the villages of Jatingi and Golagamudi. This temple is renowned for its ancient architecture. The temple has a huge mandapam in front of which a huge chariot is built. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The most prominent feature of the Jatingi Ramesvara Temple is the colossal idol of Lord Rama on the chariot in front of the mandapam. The chariot is carved out of a single block of rock and is 4.25 meters in length, 2.63 meters in height and 1.98 meters in width. The whole idol of the Lord is gilded and adorned with gold jewellery. The other striking feature of this temple is the 'Bhima Lingam' in front of the temple. You must visit one of these historical places in India on your India tour

• It is believed that the temple of Jatingi Ramesvara was constructed over 2,000 years back by Raja Kondapalli Vijaya Reddy. • The 'Bhima Lingam’ found in the temple is associated with Pandavas of Mahabharata and Lord Bhim, the second of the Pandava brothers. • The temple deities are said to be 'AsthaMurthams', a concept derived from the Hindu mythology in which eight powerful deities are invoked to invoke the Supreme God.Visit one of the famous monuments of India with your friends and family.
