Overview:
apadmanabha Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu, located in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of the Indian state of Kerala. Dedicated to the deity of Sree Padmanabha, the temple is considered as one of the 108 prime divya desams or religious centres in India. In fact, this temple is dedicated to Vishnu in the form of Anantha Padmanabha meaning the Lord who lies on the serpent, Anantha. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The temple is known for its beautiful architecture and grandeur. The single-tiered, 9.5 metre tall (31 feet) gopuram or the temple’s gateway tower is the most prominent feature of the temple. It is surrounded by impressive perimeter walls, which enclose a vast hundred and fifty thousand square metres (1.5 million square feet) complex. The temple complex houses a magnificent mandapam, or hall of worship, constructed by the ancient rulers of Travancore. You must visit one of these historical places in India on your India tour
